Hello people, does the post I'm replying to really date back to 2007?, it's now 2020! I'm new in the CNC and ArtSoft blog game, have already clocked up quite a few problems to be resolved but do not know how to log a post on the subject so that it opens it up to everyone of you out there. Can someone give this newby a leg up please? Hope you're all well

Hi everyone- new to this forum.
I am still a newbie, but quickly learning. I built a 4x8 plasma table using a Hypertherm 45XD. I am currently using Mach 3.
I get pretty clean cuts, but the Proma THC is very fickle (sometimes it keeps the torch head at the proper height, and sometimes (like now) it is for some reason rising up to maybe 3/8" when I turn on THC. I do have a floating head with an offset switch, and using the CNC Machine torch from Hypertherm.
I am now considering upgrading to Mach 4 Hobby version and getting a better THC like the one made by Texas Instruments TMC3in1, supported by Warp9td (I am using their Smooth Stepper).

I need consistent cuts for small production runs now that I am set up. Anyone have feedback for me?
I do not have a fat budget to invest in $1000+ THC systems right now. Looking for a good solution for this phase of growth.

Or maybe just upgrading to Mach 4 will help solve my consistency issues?

Hello,
I am from Luxemburg. I am busy converting my plasma-cutter into a mill using Mach3.
The idea was to replace the plasma by a spindle and use Mach3 mill instead of Mach3 plasma.
Of course the table has to get changed too, but that's not an issue.

Regards

Serge

Cnc is driving me mad.
I need serious help
I can not get my laptop to talk with my cnc.
Using Windows 7 3040t mill
Lpt1 port.
And nothing happens.
4.6volts on out puts

Laptop on a docking station to give me a parrallel port
When in device manager I can make motor glitch only once when I change lpt1 to 2 to 3 etc.
I can't change the port configuration.
I'm rapidly loosing the will to live.
I've had this mill 5yrs and still can not get comes with it.
I've fitted a new 600watt air cooled spindle motor check all the wiring and voltages and come to the conclusion it's my laptop that is at fault.
But way and how can I use it.
Let port set to ecu.
Turned on.
No conflicts and driver saying all OK and upto date.
I wasn't expecting so much hassle just to get this mill to communicate with this old Dell Latitude D430 laptop.

I need serious help
Please
