My name is Chad Cummings.  I am an IT Specialist by trade and woodworker by hobby.  I live in West Virginia and no, that is not banjo music you hear in the background.

I recently purchased a CNC machine by XZero CNC along with Mach3.  I am trying out different software packages and teaching myself the ropes.

Please be patient with me as I WILL have stupid questions.

thanks,
Chad

Hi, my name is Rob.  I live near Rochester NY and I’d like to meet or hear from other nearby home machinists and CNC users.

I took up machining metal as a hobby about 3 or 4 year ago.   About a year ago I unexpectedly acquired a CNC mini-mill.  Unfortunately, I haven’t had a lot of time to play with it so I am still very much a newbie with “dumb” questions.  I’m learning, but slowly.  I’m going to try and speed up the process by attending the Digital Machinist CNC Workshop this June in Michigan.

If you’re interested, I have a web site called Machinistblog.com

Hi There,

Michael here, I live in Sydney Australia and have always enjoyed the mechanical/engineering/scientific side of anything.
Currently I own a Chinese type mill and lathe, medium home shop size I guess you could say and am looking at converting the mill to CNC with MACH3 control.

As mentioned above I'm into anything mechanical as well as astronomy, grape growing and wine making (and drinking) and walking the dog. I'm also hopeless on electronics so no doubt I will be asking a few questions on this front.

All the Best
Michael

Hello,

I am semi-retired which just means I still need the money but I don't want to work hard for it.

I have a couple of lasers I use for marking and welding. I was driving the welder with an old MaxNC controller/driver running in DOS. That computer finally gave up the ghost and I am looking to driving the same controller with Mach3.

I loaded the software and it seems to check out but I get no indication of position change on the axis read outs when I run a test program. I can see it stepping through the G-code lines.

This is probably something simple but not obvious to me. Any help would be appreciated.

Tony

Hi Tony welcome aboard unfortunately this is an introduction only and any questions that you may have should be addressed to the general forum, semi retirement means that you still have some time to yourself when you fully retire you have no time to call your own ,I know

New member here, my name is Doug, just bought a Sieg KX1. I've been a machinist for close to 20yrs working in a tool and die shop. Just decided to get my own machine for home to make small parts. This machine is a bit different than what I'm used to, been working with Hurco's my whole career, so conversational programming has been the majority of it, also we use Surfcam for NC stuff. Anyway, just though I'd introduce myself...

Hi all. My name is Nick and I just joined this forum. I recently completed building my own 3 axis CNC router machine and now am trying to learn how to use Mach 3. I am retired and enjoy woodworking as a hobby.  It has taken me over a year from the time I discovered CNC for woodworkers to actual completion. It has been somewhat both frustrating and a very gratifying project (now that it is finished and working) and now I'm looking forward to making various things with it.

I have had a brief read of some of the different topics available on this site and I am impressed by the content and extent of topics available which will certainly greatly assist me in learning and developing a better understanding of the proper operation of Mach 3 Mill software.

Looking forward to being an active member.

Nick
