Let try this once again, Hi all, My name is Raudel, I'm from Southern California I'm new to CNC so please bare with me. I seen some of the home projects on YouTube and was hocked. I'm looking into making a rooter table or converting a lathe, but their is so much to learn, any help is greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward on being part of the CNC community. My background is welding so any body needs help, please drop me a note, Thanks

Hi
My  name is Rafael and I have been using mach 3 with a cnc 6040z for a year plus so this make me a rookie on the cnc community. I do small stuff becouse is for practice I espect to retire in one year then it go to work full time on this. So on this way I learn to use and do stuff on this cnc. I like making relive carving, wood carving on birds wood turning evrething on wood, and love to look at how a machines work.
Well thank to every one.
PD
I need some help wit this.
A week a go I try to work with the z axis and the problem start.
When the machine go to start point to cut it make a ramp  (dwell) to the z point.  All the  time z go when it go to start it do the ramp (dwell).
Maybe somebody help me with this

Hi Rafael,

Welcome to the forum.

If you post your question (giving us information about your machine and the CAD/CAM software you are using) as a new topic in the general section it is more likely to receive a response and possible solution to the problem.

My name is Senthil and live in the bay area, California. I recently took my hobby into cnc and robotics. I feel like it is magic through engineering. Hope to get more knowledge in this with the help of fellow people, online resources. Cheers. Senthil

Hi Senthil,
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome.

It is computers with multi-ton peripherals!!!!

We never have the time or money to do it right the first time, but we somehow manage to do it twice and then spend the money to get it right.

Hi Guys
I am a complete novice to programming (never proggramed anything but PLC before) of any kind. I am however, very good at building electronic control boxes and integrating welding processes. I am currently building a specialist straight line TIG welder. I want to use the MACH3 software to control an X axis step over movement for the welding torch - simple enough but there are a few complications. I have a systems requirement below and I'm looking for some help with the programming side. I have built the interface and have installed MACH3 onto the computer and connected the interface to the system. I can now control the motor using the arrow key (I thought that was pretty good for a program incompetent.
I would love to here from any of the users on this forum with any help to offer (also if there is anyone out there wanting to earn a little money then give me a price for writing the code and I will let you know any further information you may require).

Spec:
Manually drive to start point and set as ZERO. Proximity sensor for crash detect stop all movement ensure manual override cannot drive forward only dive away from proximity sensor. (INPUT 1)
Determine STEP OVER and enter (+ or - for direction user to enter into a dialog box on screen)
Set TORCH HEIGHT (user to manually position using joystick control)
START weld starts (OUTPUT 1), receive signal WELD ON (INPUT 2) then 1 sec delay rotation starts (OUTPUT 2)
360 deg rotation, signal step over (INPUT 3)
Move step over distance (all weld and rotate signals remain on)

If weld on signal not present (INPUT 4) ALL STOP

If ALLSTOP (button on screen and possibly stop button on control panel (INPUT 5) immediate – stop weld – stop rotation, lift torch to home position. Remember x axis position.

If TUNGSTEN CHANGE button on screen - continue weld to step point. Stop rotation Stop weld wait for slope out.
Lift torch to home
Remember X axis position. Return X axis to home

Operator changes consumables. Press RESUME button on screen
X axis returns to last stop point +/- step over distance. Set TORCH HEIGHT (manual operation using joystick). Press WELD RESUME button on screen- START continue with step over

Whilst job is running
Manual adjustment made by operator on Z and Y axis by joystick

hello - not new per say - have been working on same DIY CNC since about 2007 - have retired and have a lot more time to work on the project -- gave up on losing steps on Z axis (that was CNC1.0) back in 2007 - moved to Florida 2 years ago - had CNC2.0 and did not have all the info to set it up, so that one went by the way side -I am now working on CNC3.0 - I am determined to make this one work OR I will give up as age is overtaking me -- not sure where to post this so i will try to explain my problem -- I have a Dell running  XP (no outside influnces as not connected to internet) - I put in all the data given to me by the manufacturer in MACH3 Config, ports and pins, Motor outputs & Output signals push apply and go to Diagnostics -- every thing seems to be fine ---  Then the problem -- when i enter the limit switches (one or all) and E-stop in the Input Signals and Apply -- Port 1 Pins current State gives me not 4 but 5 green lights --- from left to right on the upper row 1,2,3,blank 4 E-stop, 5 unknown, 6 Z, 7 Y and 8 X --- with the CNC hooked up I can get 4,6,7,8 to go out but i don't know where to look to extinguish 5 ---- any further questions please ask

Hi Shipper506,

Don't place too much reliance on the Port1 Pins Current State, this display does not always work as it should.

Is CNC3.0 giving you the correct movements etc. ?

Tweakie.

With any values in the Input Signal the RESET will not clear and gives me a ghost "limit switch triggered" in the #5 position. when the "Fix this for me" screen appears i select it and #5 will not clear. I can set up a new profile and not insert any Input Signals to see if i can get movement by jogging. Ill do that after work today and let you know what happens.

I am brand new to the CNC world. I am looking to purchase a 4' x 8' CNC router. I want to cut stitch and glue boat (prams and kayaks ) out of marine plywood. I just retired so it's a great hobby, as well.
