I use Mach3 2010 Screenset and like it very much.
I am having a problem with depth of cuts that I think I have traved to the plate thickness
setting in tool change tab my plate is 0.24 inches thick however no matrter what I put in here it stays at 0.25000
and my intricate carvings are to deep. How do I change this entry and get it to stay?

Any Mach3 DRO that accepts user input requires the Enter key for the input to be accepted.

Question:
In the 2010 screen set, these are my issues:
When I click on the double chevron, The Z axes goes down and touches the touch plate as it should, than it goes to the fixed plate. After it zero’s out on the fixed plate it goes to the work piece and ask to click the start button. Than it goes to the tool change, after tool change, click on start and it goes back to fixed plate and then to work and starts spindle and begins. I have touch plate .125 thick, but when it starts work it is .04 too high.
When I click on the single chevron, The Z goes down and touches the touch plate as it should, than it goes to tool change position, click on start and it goes to fixed plate and zero’s out. Than it goes immediately to part and starts cutting. The problem there is that it starts .125 too deep, Like it ignores the plate thickness altogether. I thought with the single chevron, it went to the touch plate, and zero’s out and then when you click start, it started cutting.
Can someone enlighten me on what is wrong with this scenario, or is it me?

For the first issue, watch the tool carefully when it's probing, and make sure it's touching the plate (both times at each plate). It's possible that noise is triggering it before it hits the plate.

For the second issue. It doesn't work that way. If you're going to do a tool change, you MUST use the initial auto zero first (double chevron). Even though you may not be changing tools, it sounds like there's an M6 in your code, causing it to rezero from the fixed plate, which is not correct. You can either remove the M6 from your g-code, or click the "ignore M6" checkbox.
If you use Vectric software, I have a post processor on my website that eliminates this first M6.

Wit issue #2, If I ignore M6, it will not move to do a tool change in the double chevron either.
I can not figure out why with the one chevron, it simply just start cutting after the auto zero is complete, and you click on start.
I see no reason for it to go to the fixed plate, but it does.
It didn't used to do that if I remember correctly.
Its been sitting for a while because I was tied up on a project.

If you need to do a tool change, than you must use the double chevron and have ignore M6 unchecked.

If the single chevron is going to the fixed plate, it's because of an M6 in your g-code.

I find that I have to use the text editor and remove the line with the first "M6" from the g-code. Then do the 'double chevron' probe and run the code. If I do not edit out the first "M6" I have the problems you are talking about.
