Hello Ger:

I understand what the line is (the clearance plane), but in all my running the macro for two days, over and over testing changes, that never happened. When the tool jammed into the touch plate, I was really surprised. It immediately retracted and lifted the touch plate up as it was stuck on the end of the center drill.

I also had added the line, Code "G53 Z-.2" after the original macro line to move to the clearance plane, which was 1".

It looks to me like it was on it's way to Z0.000, and maybe even jammed the center drill further up into the Albrecht chuck. Pretty spooky.

It may have been a quirk, but the beginning of the line is ,  Code "Go Z" ..................

Since I am modifying the macro to set quick change tools in a milling machine, and the spindle stays in the same X-Y location, the move up to just below the Z machine home is for changing out the tool holders, as I have a big quill with 6" of travel. There is no need for a clearance plane like a router with two touchplates.

All things said, I really like the macro.

John

Ger,
I have been using 2010 for some time. I recently wanted to add a tangential knife to my CNC. I notice the button on the standard Mach3 screen but can't find it in 2010. Was this eliminated from 2010? Do you know what script is required or a way for me to find out?
Thanks

Sorry, but I don't know what button your referring to.
The 2010 screenset was designed for running routers, and was never intended to use tangential mode.

You either need to modify the 2010 Screenset to do what you need, or just use View > Load screens to switch to the default screenset.

Hi Gerry,
You mentioned in your tutorial videos that the max z depth for the initial auto zero macro is 6" and that the macro would have to be edited for anything more than 6". My machine has a 12" z depth. Could you please show me, send me  or teach me how to edit the auto zero macro to work with my machine?
Thanks,
Justin

I replied to your email. It's also probably somewhere in this thread.

In the M881, M889, and M6End macros, you need to change the value of FirstProbeDist. There are two, one for inches (6) and one for mm's (150).

im having an issue with the 2010 screen.  i have recently put new motors on my machine and so i created a new mach profile for this setup.  the problem is that now none of the homing buttons, or the tool setting buttons work anymore. (spindle on, and the m code buttons work fine)
if is switch over to the original mach screen i can home it from there just fine.
anyone have any suggestions?
i have restarted several times and i have reinstalled the screenset once and nothing is helping.

If you created a new profile, you have to copy the macros from Mach3\macros\2010 into the Mach3\macros\newprofilename\ folder.
