I think so.
Send me an email and I'll get you something to try.

By the way Ger

Have I done something wrong?
When ever I try to use the rapid movement to 0,0,0 thenZ axis retracts beyond limit switch and beyond 0, and slams against the top, triggering the drive over current.
Should I run a soft limit on this, or something?

I have uploaded a video of the initial script running. Very nice even.

Do you have a Z home switch?
Do you have Safe Z enabled and set correctly?
If you have a home switch, and are using safe Z, make sure Safe Z is set to use Machine coordinates, and make sure the value is correct.
If you're talking about the Goto Zero, then that is the default Mach3 goto zero function.

Hi Gerry

Is it possible to set the fixed touch off plate to only move in the Y axis, I was planning og attaching my fixed touch off plate to the gantry sides, so it moves along the X axis along with the gantry, thus only needing the Y wagon to move to the side to do a tool zero operation.
If this is not possible, then I'll figure something out, but it would be easier, since moving 1000-1400mm in one direction each time will take up some time in the cutting sequence.

What a great idea...  Please update with the specifics if you get this working...

Yes, he got it working, and posted a video of it on YouTube. I can get the link later if he doesn't post it.

I have not gotten around to putting the M6end part onto the machine, but here's the video with Gerry's changed initial tool setting.

So what is involved in changing things in Gerry's screenset (Mach 3) to do this?

Now I have to brainstorm a little to see if there is a way to mount the touch plate on my machine...  This would completely remove the risk of ever running a bit into the fixed touch plate...

It's a simple change in the M881 and M6End macros.

Let me look into if it will work for my machine (mechanics wise) and if so, I'll get more info...

On a semi related subject, would it be hard to add a button that homes to x and y but not z?
or a software switch that changes how the home command behaves (ie include or exclude axis)
