The only weird thing it is right now that no matter if I press the master switch or leave it unpressed everything works fine. I thought if I release the master switch then nothing will work

Do you have to set up the master switch as an estop input?

The C10 I am using came with a very small single strand wire installed as a jumper between the EN and GND terminals. If this connection is open, all outputs should be disabled.

Remove everything from those 2 terminals and try it.
There could be something goofy with your switch or wiring.

...really, just remove everything from the EN terminal.
There might be something else connected to and relying on the GND terminal.
