Multiple joy axis togheter
« on: January 22, 2007, 02:13:51 PM »
Hi all,
I bought a new game pad which has 2 analog joysticks, so 4 axis in total. My intention is use at least 2 axis or more to control my machine, even together to do diagonals. What I want to know is what I have to do to achieve this, in terms of plugins to install and how to configure it.
Before you say it, I know the info are already here, but no matter how hard I tried, it's impossible for me to gather all the pieces togheter, so a recap would be very nice. Let's say starting from a basic mach3 install up.

Thanks in advance to all!

At this point the joystick plugin will only run a two axis :(... I wish I had the time to make it work  with more!

Wasn't there another plugin which was able to do so? I think it was called keygrabber. Isn't that one supposed to work with more than 2 axis?

You can do this in KeyGrabber. KeyGrabber is not a plugin.

I tried keygrabber, and while it seems to work ok, I can't find a way to use 2 axis simultaneously. Is this even possible?

Chaoticone,

Are you using a serial or USB joysticK?  I found a Saitek USB for dirt cheap and would like to use it (yes I've already spent the $2). Keygrabber is a bit past where I'm at right now, but if USB does work, I'll jump on that aspect next. I appreciate the the feedback (sorry id Iv'e mispelled, the keyboard seems to be fighting me tonight).

THX,
John B

Hey John,
Yes, it is a USB. One thing to note, do not install the software, drivers that comes with the gamepad. You don't need those. Check out this thread.

Chaoticone,
I tried the settings you suggest, or at least, the part with the four axis. The axis work well, but I can only operate one at a time. Example: if i move the stick up a little, one axis starts to move. If I then move also a bit to the right, the only axes that moves is the previous one. To move the other axis, I first have to reach the center position. Is this to be expected? If not, is it about the other config screen? Because I couldn't really find out how to configure it like yours...

Sorry for all the troubles, and thanks!
