Sound Logic Encoder Interface anyone?
« on: November 30, 2006, 10:47:00 PM »
Any one run one of the Sound Logic Encoder Interface cards? I would like to know what is the max feet rate that it can track, I don't think it will be much trought PPort.
Also how is it working for you?

Thanks

Did you ever get around to this project?

It is on the list to be worked on soon.. I have an OEM that I have to finish working on but after that I think I am going to be good to start working on it :)

Would you like to test it ?

I'm thinking of putting Mach on a machine that will be cutting sink holes out in Granite counter tops, and there is no room for error.  The machine will go slow 5-9 IPM while cutting so there will be enought time to hit the eStop but I don't want to stand next to it all day.  I emailed Rogers a few times about board but didn't get a reply.  I would like to test it!  There is another person on the forum that has the board but didn't get it working right yet.

Just finished a retrofit on a hurco machine center with geckos,us dig encoders, and a campbell combo board. This setup is running 250 ipm easily. The encoder card should be just as fast, its made by the same guy,Jim Cullins. His boards are top quality.

I have e-mailed Ron Rogers a few times with questions about his
pendant.  He was always VERY fast in replying.  I suspect he
has a few days off.

Just sent Ron a test build of the plugIn :)
In this rev you can set the Max following error for each axis and if you are over the max error the system will estop. I am thinking that when you reset the system it will set the axis to the encoder position. This would make it so you could just press cycle start and things would be spot on!

Question,
Instead of using the e-stop, could you use the program safety lockout in general config? Mach would pause, dros would now read actual position off of encoders, program starts back.

I could do that but, I would like to start simple and go up from there. Ron needed to have something a bit faster to run with the board that he has... He will mail me back and tell me what more we need to add :) I can't add to much because of how fast I am calling it...
