John S Seig X3 conversion

Part way through a conversion of the Seig X3 mill.
Many have done this using the original brackets but I wanted to get it as compact as possible. I think they look horrible when they look like Prince Charles :D



Shows both axis with motors fitted, X still needs the rear shaft shortening.



Start of converting the Z mounting, drive will be by HTD belt at 5mm pitch.



Ballscrews are by NSK supported on matched pairs of angular contact bearings driving thru Oldham couplings.

Still a lot to do, some things are unfinished like no X screw fitted at present although all the parts have been made.

BTW, did you see the error message I posted on Yahoo.
Bolt circle is still broken, post code comes up with a syntax error

Crap answer :D
It's running Mach3 latest release.
Bit of extra tuning this morning and it's capable of 5 meters per min or nearly 200 in/min
Rather scary for a little machine. Just wanted to see how fast it would go to workout the safety factor on missed steps when it's set to a workable 1.5m/min or 60in/min

OK the machine is now finished and is going to the Bristol show next weekend.
