Solidedge2d to Lazycam text spacing problem.
« on: May 26, 2008, 05:06:51 AM »
Hi
I am just evaluating Mach3 and Lazycam before Purchaseing it, so i just using the demo  ( Max 1000 g-code lines ).

When i make text like " ACTIVE " in Solidedge2d, save it as DXF. file and open it in Lazycam, there is a missmatch in spacing
between the letters   e.g.  ( ACTI  VE )....

I have posted this subject at cnczone forum, and Brian Barker is informed, and have desided to post at this forum too.

Hope someone have a solution....

Regards John Hansen :-\

Hi, John

Use the REPLY button and attach your DXF, Have you looked at it in any other cad software and saved another dxf .

DXF files from cad to cad are very different, Do you have an option to save it in Autocad 12 format.

Thanks, Chip

John, I went ito my ProgCad program and exploded the text and whalla! To get the text solid, you'll need to "pocket" them.

Forgot to mention, I never got the weird offset text you were describing, just that the text wouldn't even show up in LazyCam so I exploded it and it came out as you see it above.

Never be sorry for being a newb, we all are at one point - ;)   ...heck, I still am!

Pocketing is done in LazyCam Pro and allows an area to be milled out like your text would be so that you don't just have outlines of text.

Anyhow, you have to actually purchase lazycam pro in order to do offsets and pocketing but the videos give you a good idea of what's possible.

Have a look at the LazyCam Pocketing video here:

You're very welcome, just note that when you purchase Mach 3, LazyCam Pro is not included, only the evaluation version is.

LazyCam Pro is a $75 add-on:  http://www.machsupport.com/purchase.php
