Steppers run one direction only for all Axis......
« on: January 27, 2022, 02:29:41 PM »
Hi! I,ve been working off and on with this for ~6 months. No success. Please see my system below.

Win 10, Mach3 (3 axis mill), ESS smoothstepper, C25S BOB (CNC4PC), HY DIV-268N 5A drivers. 4 wire NEMA 23 motors and 36V P.S.

The problem is with all axis. The on screen jog and Gcode entry do the same. Wiring has been debugged. driver tests show 5V one direction and 0V the other. Current draw is ~50ma one way and 0ma the other measured DIR+ to DIR-.
Uninstall and reinstalled Mach 3....no help.

I really need a solution.

Thanks......dt

is your wiring simular to this:

some photos of your wiring would be helpful.
anything is possible, just try to do it.
if you find some mistakes, in my bad bavarian english,they are yours.

Yes. I ignored the AC side. I already found one error in it and suspect the rest.

Thanks.....dt

wiring looks ok.
you have configured for Motor outputs X-Axis
step -> pin 2 port 1
dir -> pin 3 port 1 ?

can you measure  5V 0V at dir terminal on stepperdriver depending on direction?

anything is possible, just try to do it.

yes to wiring. I can see the change from 5v to 0v between DIR+ and DIR- when changing direction. Also, the Y axis did reverse, but only twice and then not again.

Thanks.....dt

No I'm not sure of the motor wiring. Do you have a suggestion for testing that?

Thanks.....dt

Searching more on the internet I found two references to motor wiring. So I swapped the B+ and B- wires on X axis. Now it runs reverse but won't run the other direction, only in reverse. The motor sounds better though.
 Also found reference to connect DIR+ to 5v rather than DIR- to common? Now I'm really confused!

Oh, and thanks for your help TPS.......dt

I have told you several times on the Warp9 forum to try swapping the Dir+ and Dir- wires....have you tried it?
