What make and model is your USB breakout board ?
If you are not certain then please post an image of the board so that it can be identified.

Howdy,

perhaps this is what you have
https://www.joom.com/en/products/5bfbc1b428fc710101565b38

did the board come with a software driver ?
there is a need to tell Mach3 “where” to send the information it generates.
this job is done by a so called “driver” that needs to be installed.

I do not know more about your specific board, however. Good luck, Philippe

I am using the same board and a few minutes ago I downloaded the latest Mach3 and installed it.  The driver came with the board and connected OK so I started to configure Mach3.
Everything seemed to be working fine until I tried tuning the stepper motors.
After making a small change just to test, the program showed an error and then crashed out.
I tried several times and it happens each time.
I uninstalled Mach3 and reinstalled again, but the same happens as before.
I am not even able to test if the software will work for me or not, and the board I have bought is dedicated for Mach3 USB connection.
Any ideas what I could try to overcome this problem?
The error message says art code error 9991

A driver should have been supplied with that board. The driver needs to be placed in the plugin folder.
The name of the driver is BL-UsbMach.dll

As that board looks very much like the STB4100 you could try using the RnRMotion.dll
