Set up 2 probes at same time in Mach 3
« on: November 07, 2018, 06:26:04 AM »
Hi Guys,
I have been using a Z Probe since buying my machine with no problems. I have since bought a Digitizing Probe to learn how to use it and see if it is going to be a useful tool.

In Mach 3 under Config>Ports and Pins>Inputs , I only see one input that seems to  relate to Probing.

As I am using a different input for my Digitizing Probe, I had to change the setting I had in Mach 3 for my Z Probe. I don't want to disturb that setting each time I want to use the DP. ( I am trialing the 'Probe It' software. )

Am I able to set up and use BOTH probes without having to change settings in Mach 3?

Steve

Steve

I've posted a Brain that "links" a second input to the probe input. It's on the forum somewhere. But I think it only works with the parallel port, and not with motion controllers.
I think that's the only way to do it in Mach3.

Hi,
you can have up to four active probe circuits in Mach4.

Thanks Ger21....I'll have a play and see how it goes.

use a relay to select the probe.
wire the relay to an Output, and you can select the probe within your probe macro.
anything is possible, just try to do it.
if you find some mistakes, in my bad bavarian english, they are yours.

I use an output pin to a couple of gates to select which probe I want to use (under Mach3). But that is custom.

Cheers

Thanks Roger.
I've had a bit of a play ..... I can use the same input but one probe requires a HI signal and the other a LO, so as it stands now, I still have to change the configuration in Mach 3 each time I change probes.
Instead of a gate or a relay , I was thinking of using a changeover switch, but I still have the other problem to overcome yet.

never saw a documentation about how to Change Input Parameters via VBScript,
maybe someone else know about a possibility.
