DFX to G Code
« on: June 12, 2007, 02:14:39 PM »
???  ??? I have a 3-D wireframe turboCAD drawing as well as the .DXF that I want to convert to a G code. So far no luck but I have yet to purchase the product, is this why I am experiencing troubles? Also, does mach3 do the 3D stimulation?

You will have to drop the file into a 3d CAM system and generate the code, then mach will run the code.

LazyCAM Pro will do the 2D/2.5D stuff, if your budget stretches into 1000,s then look at AlphaCAM, OneCNC, MasterCAM, BobCAD/CAM, Etc.

I'm looking into getting a cnc engraver, working to turn rhino 3d files into 3d models. The chinese vendor of one machine says that their machine, which comes with a controller (creation cte 3025), can run ".nc" files only. Can LazyCAM convert Rhino files in ".nc" format? Does it need to for the engraver to work (not getting many clear answers from the vendor) ? If not, then can I simply install Mach 3 instead as the controller software and run with LazyCAM?
Thanks
Don

Hi Don,

I think the .NC files will be text based g-code files.  The best thing to do is ask them for a sample .NC file and post it here for us to look at.

All you have to do to use the files is change the extension to .TAP,  They will then load into Mach
