I am trying to get my CNC mill going.  I am working with the computer right now.  Windows 7 and Mach 3.  Mach 3 installed OK.  I created the shortcut for drivertest.exe  However driver test will not run.  It looks like it starts to run and then quits.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks, rex

It won't run under Windows 7 unless you are using a 3rd party motion control card such as smoothstepper.

If I can't do a driver test in Windows 7, then how do I tell if I have an installed and functioning driver?  I do have mach3.sys in the Mach3 directory.  I am really at the rudimentary stage now apparently.

If you intend to use the parallel port then you need to use a 32bit OS. If your W7 is 32bit then fine but if it is 64bit then the only way you will be able to use Mach is if you use an external controller rather than the parallel port.

I have installed a 32 bit OS.  Not sure where to go from here if I want to use the computer's parallel port.

I want to be able to verify the parallel port with Mach 3 before I attempt to hook up to the (Campbell designs) breakout board.  Let me know if I'm barking up the wrong tree.  thx

Ok if its 32bit it should be fine. You mention you made a shortcut to drivertest.exe, not sure why you would do that?
Did you install Mach to the default location?
Have a look in device manager and see if the pulsing engine is there (that is the driver)

Did you re-boot the pc after install ? Did it re-boot automatically ? (I think it does now)

Are you closing Mach before running the test ?

I did reboot.
2.2.1 section of the manual says to create the shortcut and put it on the desktop.  I was just trying to follow the manual (downloaded from the website).  Got stopped there.
