Problem with Mach3
« on: October 07, 2013, 07:50:04 PM »
I have been having problems with my set up for several months.

When I open Mach and start the program, I have to go into the ports and pins configuration page and change the address for the second LPT port.

I just change the last number to anything.  Then save the settings.   Close the page.   Reopen the page.  Change the address back to the original address.  Save it again

and guess what everything works!!.   If I don't do the above steps, everything connected to the port 2 does not work.

I usually just leave the computer running, but sometimes it gets powered off.

I upgraded to the latest release.   Did not help.

any ideas where to start?

Hood-

Something else.   For the past month or so when Mach starts, sometimes it just freezes.   I would have have to power the computer down and restart the computer.

Tonight when I tried to flame cut, the screen locked up and I restarted the computer.   After that I could not get  Mach to start.    When I would start the flame cutter profile, it would get to a white screen with the Mach logo and freeze.

I could start some of the generic profiles that came with Mach, and they loaded fine.

Thanks for looking

Steve

Ok first thing to do is set your kernel to 45KHz, you have it at 100KHz and the fastest axis you have only requires 37.5KHz

Hood-

I have kept lowering and lowering my speed trying to keep the machine from cogging when more than 2 axis move in auto.

Are you referring to Kernel when you say speed?

Hood-

No I have been reducing the overall IPM of the motors on the Motor tuning page.

I have tried to turn Mach on using this profile so that I can change the Kernel speed, and I cant get it to go past the start up screen.   It just freezes.
