I don't know where the jog page up and down is

Under Config / System HotKeys.

You also have the X axis backwards there.

The Fly-out Pendant pops up with the TAB key.

ok     The mach 3 and your sim is running like z is moving.   smoothstepper dia thinks z is moving.   no power to z.    is that a controller problem ?
or my xml ?

Do you mean "no power to the motor ? is it a stepper ? is it holding firm ?
or, do you mean there is "no pulse stream to the drive ?
The xml looks ok at a glance, but like Hood said, does you physical wiring match your pin assignments in the SW for the Z ?

z spins, does not get tight when controller starts

Steppers or servos ?
Is there an "enable" for the drive ?
Did you try one of the other drives with the Z axis motor ?
Did you try the Z axis motor with one of the other "working" drives ?
Not sure what you meant by " I changed the z to x and x did not work".

Ok here is what I suggest you try. Connect the physical wiring that goes from your breakout to X drive to your Z drive then in Mach Jog the X. If the Z moves then your hardware is ok, if it doesnt then setup or SS or Bob is wrong.

I have replaced the motor still z does not lock.
Mach3 shows movement and smoothstepper diag shows movement.
When I change the position of z in mach3, then regen the code changes but no z movement.

I believe my problem is the controller or the smoothstepper driver Ver 17efb, 37, 2.08.36.
