Denford Novamill conversion

Could anyone tell me how to convert and older MSDOS Novamill to Mach3 please. Am I right in thinking I will only need a breakout board and drive card for each stepper motor? If that is the case I think I would be able to handle the interconnections.

I would look at the Denford forum, there are quite a few conversions on there and some are very well documented.
