I'm using the Wolfgang spindle and I purchased my bits from you Jeff!
I think the WG spindle is 18K+ RPM and I only use it for PCBs. I have a Porter Cable that I will press into service when I start wood working.
I have been setting my XY speed to 30ipm in pcb-gcode.
SmoothStepper, hmmm I should look into one.

So you'll have the spindle speed you need then! I know when I started milling PCBs I was feeding too fast as I was being impatient, and like to help other folks avoid the mistakes I made. Glad to hear your using the PreciseBits  ;D

Just curious Jeff, are the bits you are talking about HSS?

Nope, not HSS. The FR4 PCB laminate would chew up HSS in short order. I sell the solid submicrograin carbide bits made by PreciseBits: http://soigeneris.com/PreciseBitsPCB.aspx.

Ok, thanks, just seemed a bit slow to me but then again I am used to machining metals which obviously is a different thing.

Sorry I have another one?
Is there a relationship between kernel speed and processor speed? 100K kernel speed requires a minimum CPU of X value?
