Using a Contour Design Shuffle as a pendant
« on: July 28, 2006, 02:51:30 PM »
Hi all,

I thought you might be interested in seeing the Contour Design Shuffle that I have setup as a pendent for my Sherline CNC Mill and lathe that I am using with Mach 3.

The buttons are fairly obvious except the one labelled XZY.  This toggles the useage of the jog and shuffle wheel between each axis (a small popup on the Windows toolbar tells you what axis is in use.

The outer ring on the controller provides fast jog in each direction while the inner one provides a step by step move as you wind it around for fine movement.

The four bottom buttons are unused.

David,

Are you using this with a USB port?  Is there a config file that you can post?  I would like to get one but the new designs are slightly different but I would assume they would still work, do you know of any reason why they wouldn't?

Thanks for the info.

Dan

Yes it uses a usb port, in fact the software that comes with it allows you to have 2 shuffle connected at the same time.  You can order them direct from Contour Design (www.contourdesign.com).  The new ones will work.  I will post my config files as soon as I get to my office.  You actually use 3 configs files one for each axis and then the xzy button toggles between them.

Did you get a version 2 shuttle or the older one.  I want like just like yours.

I have the older one but the new V2 is basically the same except has 2 more buttons and is black. I also think it has macro capabilities.

Did you post your config files yet for the shuttle.  This looks like a fairly efficient way to operate. The jog and step functions on the dials should make tool touch off fast.
Thanks,
