move entitie to another chain in Lazycam
« on: May 13, 2008, 11:14:57 AM »
Hi Brian

Could you make it possible to move entities from one chain to another chain.
As you can see in the picture if I select an chain on the outside then entities in the inside are selected as well.
I want to cut the entities in the inside of the shape 0,5mm deep and the shape as it is must be cut 1,5mm deep.
So I need all the entities inside the shape to be one chain and the outside of the shape to be another chain so I can cut in different ways.

Greetings:
Willem

Have you tried the "Chain-Ent Sel" toggle button on the right hand side of the screen?

I'm guessing you have but thought you might have missed it.  ;)

Hi, Willem

Post your DXF file, Do you have the LazyCam Lic. ?

Now I can see what your trying to do, The lines in the middle should not connect to the outline shape.

If thy don't, In Setup, Loading Options, Connection Line Tol., Set it to .001 or .0001 and re-load your dxf.

Maybe as Dave stated use "Chain-Ent Sel" to select the outer entity's you want, Then use Offset, Then delete them.

Thanks, Chip

Hi budman

Yes I used that to select the entities (or chains) bud as you can see in the screenshot one inside entitie is connected to the outside entities.

Hi chip

I have the same settings as you do, I did play around with the tolerance settings, it gives by each setting A different result.
Each time I push the clean button I also get A different result (without change any setting).
Yes I have A license.

Here is the dxf

Hi Chip

P.S.
You mean if I delete the original outside chain the inside entities are for sure not attached to the outsidechain, did not think of that option

Hi Chip

Just attempt to first select the outside and make A offset bud if the tolerance is to Small I don't get A closed chain and if to big inside entities will be selected as well
If I make the tolerance very very very Small I can select the entities in the inside as if they were chains and then I can move them (as A group) away from the other entities so for now that is what I have used bud this is very complex.
It would be more easy if entities could be moved to A different chain (and after that to A different Layer).

Ok, I just downloaded your dxf and then opened it in Lcam and I zoomed in to the tail area and clicked on the outer section and as you can see by the screenshot below, it separates the entities/chains nicely. not sure how or why it didn't for you, but it did. Is this what you're after?

Hi Chip

Did you select it with one click????
If I see it good you did not clean first?
For me this is unbelievable.

I have also problems with making an offset with the wing, maybe if you try it wiil come op excellent.
I did try it with A tool with 1mm diameter.

Hi, Willem

It was Dave that posted the new pic. of the tail feathers, Although I got the same results using .01 Load tol.

Part of the problem with the dxf is there are a few unconnected lines in the wings, See below.

I'll look it over a bit more, Was tied-up earlier today.

Thanks, Chip
