Monitor problem
« on: February 20, 2008, 06:30:49 PM »
Hello everyone,
I was given an older IBM PC with a small CRT monitor. They work OK together but I want to use the monitor on my Mach lathe.
It comes on with garbled static all over the screen when connected to my newer PC.
Is there a way to make this work ? Or am I making a futile attempt ?   :-\
Thanks for helping,
RC

Further investigation reveals that the old PC is an IBM 330 and the monitor is a Packard Bell PB8541VGG. And a date...Sept. 89.
Dang.....it's an ANTIQUE for cryin' out loud !
Thanks
And while it's booting up, the bios and Windows XP Pro is crystal clear...Then you can barely make out the log-on screen. Much static and diagonal lines everywhere.

try putting the screen res to 600x400. You should be able to go into safe mode to change  as only basic drivers are used .

Hood,
I Googled this up....http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222
Looks a little spooky to me but I'll give it a shot.
I guess I'll need to change it back when I get that nifty touch screen like yours. I'll be watching for your Carbon Turn lset. Hope you're planning on one.
Thanks much,
RC

I would suggest that you also reduce the refresh rate to 60Hz if it is not already. ( this is done from:-  Display Properties / Settings / Advanced / Monitor ).

Thanks guys,
Safe mode helped. It made the .lset OK. But the Gonfig screen is too large..can't get to the bottom of it to close it.
Auto Enlarge is off.
Back to original for now.
Any more hints ?
Thanks,
RC

Tried auto enlarge on and off.....The Gen. Config. screen is still too big.
It won't shrink. The regular screen set is fine though.
I'll wait for my touch screen.... and Your Carbon.lset.  ;D
Thanks again Hood,
RC

ha ha well you may wait a while :) Time is scarce at the moment, I am retrofitting a Beaver Mill at the moment (Cue Bretts big Beaver jokes ;) ) and I was planning on having it finished over Christmas/New Year period but my customers had other ideas :(

nope use them, I used the Buttons from Zealous and the sparkle for DRO from Benny. I have included a blank button in the folder so you can open in photoshop or whatever and put your own text in.
