Issue with CNC Y Direction
« on: October 31, 2024, 06:53:54 AM »
My machine is stopping but Mach3 seems to think it's still running then it starts moving again when it had to go to a X direction. This makes it out of registration. Im it's likely a software fault but i don't know whats causing it. I have ruined 3 boards and i cant get it working correctly.

Can anyone help?

If you post your <your profile> .xml file (typically Mach3Mill.xml) I will take a look at your settings and see if anything is amiss.

You need the .xml file from the computer that has the problem. The file is in your Mach3 folder.

This thread details how to add attachments to your posting https://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?topic=24585.0

I keep getting this message so i have had to change the name

An Error Has Occurred!
Sorry! There is already an attachment with the same filename as the one you tried to upload. Please rename the file and try again.

I don’t see any problems with your Mach3 machine setup and there have not been any Y axis stopping problems reported with the UC100 motion controller.

My best suggestion is that you check your machine for tightness of the Y axis motor coupling or binding in the axis movement.
Also check connection of wiring to the Y axis driver and to the stepper motor itself.

Hope this helps.

One thing i need to point out is that the connection cable is in Two parts due to the distance from the machine to the Computer. Could that be part of the problem or indeed tha cause? I didnt give this any thought before.

I also have another question. My machine runs as 12,000 RPM. Is this the correct speed? it allows me to speed up to 16,000 but that over ride doesnt seem to work.

I have one machine that uses a 5 meter LPT cable without any issues but I would not want to use a USB cable any longer than say 1 meter. Extending cables is generally not good practice but if they are of good quality with gold plated pin and socket connections then it should not be a problem.

Just as a test try reducing the Velocity and Acceleration of your Y axis in motor tuning by 50%, saving the changes. Does it now still have the problem ?

I will try anything to be honest. How do i reduce the Velocity and Acceleration of the Y Axis?
