Mirroring tool path in tangential mode Mach4
« on: July 13, 2022, 06:47:17 AM »
I´m using Mach4 hobby tangential mode, knife (axis A following X axis),with CSMIO-IP axis controller.
I need to mirror the tool path. I do this scaling to -1 the X axis (G51 X-1).
This looks OK, but when cutting in X direction, the knife run with its back side towards in front !
Has anyone had this problem ?
I'm not find in configurations anything that solve this issue!!
Help please!!

Hello.
I am sorry I decided to contact you even if I am not replying to your issue.
I would like to ask you how do you generate Gcode for tangential blade? What software do you use? I have DXF files, but I am having difficulties to create a G code for mach 4. Please let me know if you can.

Thank you very much.

Tsamael25,
The gcode is the same you just need to tell Mach to run in tangential mode.

Adiniz,

When you home the tangential axis is the blade pointed with the sharp side to the X+ direction?

Tsamael25,
Like Bill_O response, the gcode is the same. The axis that's tangential does not even appear in gcode! But for this, the mach 4 (same for mach3!), shoulde be configured to tangential mode!
I think you question about the CAM I use. Realy, i not find one CAM for my purpose! So I had to develop my own CAM !!
I found some information on net!
See this link, for ex.!

Hi Bill_O !
Yes! in homing the "knife" (in my case is one tool for glass cutting!), point in desidered position, direction!

It sounds like you need to rotate the blade 180 degrees from home and zero it.
On my machines I need to so it is facing the correct direction.

Bill_O,
I only mirror the X axis, and the "knife" run in rear. On the Y axis all happens normally. If i do this, the cuts in Y will be the same problem!? I think!!

The problem is trying to mirror your gcode.
Maybe there is a way to make the knife face correctly when you mirror but i do not know it.
It really sounds to me like your machine is set up incorrectly if you have to mirror gcode to make it run.

Hi Bill_O!
I have to mirror only the tool path, to clarify the visual in mach4 tool path!
My material is a glass plate 3600 x 2400 mm by Ex.!
This glass plate enter in my machine (CNC cutting table), by a transport machine horizontaly, from left to right.
The material (glass plate), stops over the cutting table.
The X and Y axis of my machine are hommed at lower/right corner.
If i don´t mirror the gcode in X, the graphical in mach4 tool path is starting at left and extends to right!
The machine cuts normaly! Only the graphical information is reversed to machine operator!
Can you understand my purpose?
Thank much you for trying to help me!!
Excuse my bad english!!

The only reason you are needing to mirror your gcode is because you have the machine set up incorrectly.
Fix that and the knife will work.
