Loosing steps and stalling Help Please
« on: October 20, 2007, 04:34:37 AM »
Dear Friends I am using Mach 3 v1.98 and I have 8NM Nema 34 Motors. My power supply is 65V and I am using Leadshine microstep drivers , my leadscrew is 5mm/turn.I set up my driver to 800 microstep.

In Motor tuning screen I adjust

160
velocity : 3000 mm
250mm s/s
and pulse time 5

when I move the motor 20 cm then I starts freezing and lose steps.I use Driver test program but I dont know how should it look?

my computer p4 3.0 512 mb ram 256 mb X550 graphic card.

Lower your veloc. and accel. Keep going lower until it runs good then back off some more to allow for tool load.

I lower my velocity to 500mm but it still freezing and stalling.I used another program (WINPC-NC Demo) to test it.With this program I can go 6.000mm per/minute.What Should I do in the program? and What should I see in driver test program? Normally time in internal is between 4-5 .While I am jogging time in internal change to 4-16 .is it problem?

Thanks for your interest

Your drive test is terrible, you should see a smooth line with maybe a slight ripple or the occasional peak but nothing like you are seeing.
Do the optimisation and see if that helps. The instructions for Optimisation can be found at the bottom of the downloads page.

This is more like what you should be seeing in the driver test.

Yes I know its quantum test program but I used the mach3 test program.the results are same.the ACPI still turned on can it cause this problem? What should I do? When I jogging the motor starts turning after a while , the motor sounds change( in this time motor still turning) then motor freeze.what cause it?

Also I tried this in another pentium 4 1.6 256mb ram pc .When I start driver test program there is instant peaks occurs sometimes.is it problem?

You need to do the optimisation steps that I mentioned two or three posts back. That should help with your problem.
Not sure what you are meaning about the driver test on the P4 computer. Are you saying it is just the occasional peak or are you saying it is constant peaks like your other computer?

The screen should look like the one I posted, if it is much worse than mine then you have problems.
Have a look at the optimisation file and do the steps it says, it should help  you.
