Very Slow Feed Rate
« on: November 11, 2020, 08:21:52 PM »
Hello People, I have calibrated and tuned my CNC steppers and the CNC now jogs beautifully. Once the sample G Code (roadrunner) is loaded and the Cycle Start button is activated however, the Feed Rate is extremely slow, often only a step and very small distance at the time. Over-Riding the Feed Rate by 250% makes hardly any difference. My CNC is a 12 year old MiniMax (MaxPath42) with recon control circuitry. It has another issue but I'll discuss that separately. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

for a simple test use MDI Input

metic -> G1X100 F100 should take 1 Minute
imperial -> G1X10 F10 should take 1 Minute

if x axis is at 0 when You start
anything is possible, just try to do it.
if you find some mistakes, in my bad bavarian english,they are yours.

I'm having the same problem, mach was working till I reloaded it and must have changed something. Works fine in jog, but 1" on DRO is about 12" on mach. Not sure what a MDI input is

Thanks TPS, will try MDI (manual data input) and see what happens. Will report back.

It worked, almost to the milli second. Thanks again TPS. Does that mean that my CNC is a very slow machine, as I have seen another that seems to fly through the job.
Hi dannyb, the MDI tab is next to the Program Run tab and allows for manual code entry. Your issue looks like a calibration issue though, could that be the case.

By the way TPS, what is the Feed Rate diagnostic code and timing for the Z axis?

the code for Z axis would be

metic -> G1Z-100 F100 should take 1 Minute
imperial -> G1Z-10 F10 should take 1 Minute

drive the z axis all the way up and Zero it

pls post screenshots of motortunig Windows off all three axis and we will see.
anything is possible, just try to do it.

Would do if I could TPS, but in the mean time my X axis stepper or controller has blown up. Motor very hot with circuitry plastic burn smell coming from either the controller or the motor itself. Back to the drawing board.  Wish you all the best and I'll be back once this has been resolved.
