My stepcraft DL445 laser leaves a path
« on: June 11, 2019, 08:06:08 PM »
Hi everybody! My laser works fine but when is running leaves a path, I use Aspire 9 and Mach3, does anyone have a modified post processor with M10 and M11 commands? I'm desperate because I can not find a way to make it works, thanks for your help

Google is your friend. Searching for "vectric laser post processor" gives as a first hit:

There are Vectric Post Processors for Mach3 and Mach4 Laser use in the Downloads section here;  https://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?board=8.0

I tried with this post processor but the same thing is happened, I saw the different way to switch B axis for Z movements, maybe this works!

From your pic. you have 2 distinctly different issues...

1) The 'dot' burn at the start and end of each toolpath - this can be fixed by using the M11/M10 commands.
2) The streak lines which indicate that the laser is not turning off properly - this can be fixed by using a 'pull-up' or 'pull-down' resistor (depending if your laser uses TTL(L) or TTL(H) switching) connected to the switching signal line for the laser.

Chank Hervella,

Do you have a diagram of how your laser is connected to your PC and can you also post your .xml file.

Hi Chank Hervella,

After studying your .xml and all the documents I have to backtrack on my earlier posting…

As far as I am aware (last time I looked) the UC100 Mach3 plugin does not support the Mach3 M11/M10 command set and if that is still the case then it rules out using the Vectric Laser Post Processor as a resolution to the excess laser burn at the start and end of the toolpaths. (As you said earlier, you tried it and it did not work).

As for the laser streaking – because your DL445 is totally interfaced with the 840 controller rather than your PC it would perhaps be unwise to make any electrical modifications without the approval or endorsement of Stepcraft / Stoneycnc. So, I think you need to be talking directly to Stepcraft about the streaking issue and get their suggestions on the way forward here.

Thanks Tweakie, Stepcraft has the worst technical service, do you think my laser needs a modification you said before, Pull up or pull down resistor?
