CNC drive AXBB-E
« on: March 09, 2019, 08:17:33 AM »
Hi folks.
Anyone here have any experiences with the CNC drive AXBB-E combination board ?
At first glance, it looks to be quite a nice package. An Ethernet controller priced reasonably with well documented instructions.
Thanks for any input.
Russ

I just got one last week, but haven't powered it up yet.
Not sure if they'll be releasing Mach3/4 plugins for it. I just asked on their forum

Hi,
to my knowledge the UC***** series don not have realtime support for backlash comp, single point lathe threading,
realtime THC, or spindle PID (index or encoder).

If there is a specific realtime function you require be sure to ask CNCDrive.

Never crossed my mind regarding the plugin. Looks like it may be an incentive to push their own product. A plugin might be pending ... dependent on package sales and demand.

Thanks Gerry.

Valid points I also overlooked as I was considering this for a lathe .... thank you Craig,

Hi Russ,
to my knowledge the Hicon (Vital Systems), PMDX-424 (PMDX), 57CNC (PoKeys) all have single point lathe threading
support. The Ethernet SmoothStepper has added single point lathe threading within the last few months and  to support
that have introduced spindle PID which can be enacted with either index or encoder signals.

I was told they are working on the Mach3/4 plugins. Keep in mind the hardware was just released last week.
I would not recommend them for lathe use, though, as even their own software does not have a lathe mode.

I have a good history w/Steve at PMDx, might go that route, thanks Craig.

Coincidence, me just happening to notice their new board. (it does however say "first 250 ..." )
Could have sworn they had TURN as part of their sw earlier .... must have seen that elsewhere. ::)
Thanks Gerry

I also notice Centroid / Acorn sw and boards only work together.

I edited my post and your quote, as I meant to say I would NOT recommend them for lathe use.
