4th Axis when Slave in Use
« on: December 09, 2018, 02:08:38 PM »
Hi,

Hopefully this is in the right section. I have a Gecko540 controller running two steppers on the Y-Axis with one being slaved to A. X is X and Z is Z.

I've just made a rotary axis which is currently being run as the X-Axis. Is there a way to make this axis angular and retain the two steppers on the Y? Is it possible to slave the X axis to Y and then use A on the rotary? Or is there another way? Currently I have it as a linear setup and I don't know if I have it setup correctly in terms of steps etc...

Thanks

Are you trying to run 5 motors from your G540?

No four.

I have Y and A Slaved to run the Y axis, as I have two steppers on the Y.

Z runs Z

and X runs rotary at present.

I'd like to display the rotary as an angle if possible.

Assign the A motor pins to the B axis, and slave B to Y.
Assign the X motor pins to the A axis.

Assign the A motor pins to the B axis, and slave B to Y.
Assign the X motor pins to the A axis.

That's worked perfectly! Thanks, it's been doing my head in all weekend!
