G and M code for beginners
« on: October 20, 2018, 06:12:39 AM »
Hi all

I'm still very new to this just waiting for my machine to arrive.

While I have been waiting I have tried to learn Mach3 and when I open one of the Test G-code files like the Roadrunner.tap, some of the first lines is not G-codes and not M-codes and I can't find any documentation for this code so that's why I am asking here. This is the lines:

F60.000000
G0 X0.000000 Y0.000000 Z0.200000
M3
S60.000000
G43H5

As you can see there are both F and S codes, what do they do?  and the H5 Code in the last line?

Thanks

Hi Klaus,

Unfortunately the Mach documentation is spread far and wide.

The main Mach3 screen has G-Code and M-Code buttons – clicking these will give you a brief description of the various functions.
A slightly more detailed explanation of these Codes can be found in Section 10 of the Mach2 manual;   http://www.machsupport.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Mach2Mill_6.11.pdf

I have also linked an excellent tutorial here;   http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,38540.0.html

Hope this helps.

Tweakie.
PEACE

Hi Tweakie and thanks for your answer.

Yes it is a great link with a lot of useful information but it doesn't answer my question  ???

Cheers
Klaus

I don't think you are reading the information in the links I have provided  ;D

Section 10 of the manual describes the F and S commands and if you look up G43 it describes the H parameter and it's function.

Was there any other question ?
