4th A axis irradical behaviour
« on: January 17, 2018, 03:27:32 AM »
Hi everyone.
I have used my 4-axis machine to create gears with great success but this past week it has started to act weird.

I have the A axis set to rotational angular and limit to 360 and shortcut G0 is active.
I use:
E-Cut 4axis board
Mach3 043.066
Win10 Pro x64

Heres a scenario example:

I load my code to drill 6 holes on a round part with 60 degrees between holes and finish one or two parts. Everything works as expected.
Then, instead of moving from A0 (or were ever the problem starts) to A60 it goes part of the way then suddenly skips to say A165.5347
The axis stops rotating were the big jump starts. The drilling commences.

I hit e stop and then I can jog back to the angle were it jumped from. Say it was 8.3562.

Now i can jog back and forth in one single small step from 8.3562 directly to A165.5347 but the head only rotates that single step.

Anyone familiar with this?

I have never seen this happen but there are some odd things occur with version .066
Try installing version .062 (over the top of your existing version) and see if that cures the problem ftp://anonymous:guest@ftp.machsupport.com/Mach3/Mach3Version3.043.062.exe
Make a backup of your Mach3 folder first (just in case you need to revert).

jeep534,

See the attached file which shows the changes done to Mach3 from version 52 to 62. I don't know what changes were done for 66 as some users have found issues when using it.  062 seems to work fine here.

No luck with .062 :(

It might have something to do with offsets some how.

Latest testrun was like this. Without the "Rot 360 rollover" or the "And Short Rot on G0" ticked in.

Started Mach3 0.62 with all new profile with new settings.
Made 2 succesful runs of code.
Third attempt stalled A axis at first attempt to rotate 60 degrees. It got to something like 39.2343 degrees and then halted. Readouts in mach3 showed that halted position and it did not change but Mach3 kept following the code, drilling "new" holes but stuck in the same degrees.

It even read this "N200 G91 A60 F1500 (**Go Next Incremental Angle**)" and kept going after that even though the A axis didnt move.

I stopped the program and rewinded it. Then manualy jogged the A axis back to 0 and tried again with the same result.

It starts to move from A0 towards A60 but this time after A39.2343 it jumped directly to something like A-5236.3425.
I can jog back and forth and the jump keeps happening very accuratly.

Stumped!
Any suggestions?

I am guessing it is your feed rate and you are skipping if using a stepper.
Post your xml file you are using and maybe someone will take a look.

Hi Jeep534,

Popular opinion amongst our members here says that version .062 is the only one to use.

Hi.

No skipping. Not at all. No errors like that that I can see.

Hi Aliasant,

Your .xml file is in your Mach3 folder. Bottom right of the main Mach3 screen is your Profile. Your .xml file is entitled <your Profile> .xml

Use the Reply button the Additional Options to attach your .xml file.
