Hi Chip,

Thanks for looking at it...

I have been using CutViewerMill and CutViewerTurn to proof my G-code since I purchased the software bundle from Robert at MeshCAM a few years ago. Mach3 and the CutViewers were part of the bundle. Both versions of CutViewer have been dependable for proofing and editing G-code with my other methods of generating G-code (DeskCNC, and a few lathe code generators). So, I never got in the habit of proofing code in Mach3.

I loaded the G-code in Mach3 2.01 and found the two empty tool calls (T&H). The arcs are displayed closer to what they should be, but still not correct. If you zoom in, you will see they are not a smooth transition from entity to entity in the area I call the "foot". They are slightly larger radii than they should be. I haven't calculated the I' & J's to see what they should be... haven't wrapped my brain around that one yet... been dependent on CAM to work those out.  :-[

I'm wondering now why CutViewer and Mach3 are interpreting the code so differently? Just to check, I loaded the code in NCPlot and got the same results as CutViewer. Who's on first?

Need to get back to my eBay stuff... will look closer at the code later and see if I can figure out what's out of place.

Thanks again, Paul

Hey CHIP, I have tried and tried to change the cutting order of the layers with no luck. I can click and drag the layer BUT Lcam will not let me drop the layer to another spot. It says"Can't drop that there" no matter where I drop it at????

Also you can't edit the cut order info in the info bar.

ANy ideas.?????  (;-) TP

Paul,
Try changing the IJ arc settings in Lcam's Post options... I think that will fix the problem

Thanks
Brian

Hi Brian,

I thought I had tried that before, but tried again. It does straighten out the curves... but not in a way I'm looking for.  ;)

The bounding box is huge (271.1525 units should be 2.0625 units).

Hi Chip,

The *.dxf, *.Lcam and *.nc files are in the attached *.zip file for my July 9th post below.

Thanks guys, Paul

Hi, Paul

Your Dxf loaded in BobCad 18 shows arc's backwards, Loaded it in TurboCad 8 shows correct, Saved it as new Dxf, Re-loaded in BobCad 18, Displays correct now.

All these Dxf's have different way's thy save info, So-many versions, The New Importer was supposted to handle many more, Guess thy Missed some.

The Dxf's have a header with Info it use's O-Well.

Try the one's bellow.

Hope this Helps, Chip

Hi Chip,

I tried your Lcam, but got very odd offsetting of the outer profile. I loaded your .dxf and created the toolpaths. The "foot" of the profile is getting the oversize arc offsets shown in LCam the same as the prevoius example was showing in Mach3. The G-code generated is still giving I's & J's way out of spec.

Thanks again for jumping in on this.

Brian or Art...

Is there a preferred *.dxf for testing LCam that I could try, so I can sort out my computer/software issues if any?

My LCam xml is attached.

Hi Paul

I see what you mean, It's a LCam internal issue I think Try going back a few versions May be better.

Hears what I got with LCam ver 2.01.0

Thanks, Chip
