Title: LazyCam 2.081 Issues
Post by: Chip on July 05, 2007, 10:40:25 PM
Hi, Art

LCam Ver .081 needs .0000001 Connection Line Tol. to load my small airfoil test file, It took .0001 with .080

LC .080  loads it fine with .001 until you do offsets.

Was originally told it was a new importer issue, Guess not.

Thanks, Chip

Thanks Art,Working fine with .000001 now.

Hi Art & Brian

LCam .081 in Mach3ver 2.01.000, Some things to look at.

1. The red line Chain#0 shows 2 line segments and 1 arc., Should be 3 individual Chains, Really messes up the way you want to cut.

2. The second picture shows trying to move start point for one of the arc's, Turns into Circle, Will go away now when moved back.

3. Loaded file always has a rapid hight, Sometimes it's 0, 1 or 60 in Max Z Chain's Tab, Even if all Tabs show 0 for Z , The View shows some Rapid Hight when loaded.

4. Where do you change the Drill peck distance, Only peck's first hole down to Z 0 then no peck to final depth..

Thanks, Chip

Hi Brian, A few notes and problems with the V.081

When you click on a layer on the screen it does not update the layer name in the info bar, if I select the layer from the properties box it works but not from a screen selection.

How do you change the cutting order of the layers???

How do you select multiple objects on a layer, I have tried evry comboniation of keys I can think of none seem to work???

Thanks (;-) TP

 Hi, TP

When you click on a layer on the screen it does not update the layer name in the info bar, if I select the layer from the properties box it works but not from a screen selection.

"When you click on a item on screen it's only a Chain in the layer."

How do you change the cutting order of the layers???

"Click on Layer box move it on top of layer box you want it to be before or after, Depends on position."

How do you select multiple objects on a layer, I have tried evry comboniation of keys I can think of none seem to work???

"Use the right side  Red Single/Multiple button, Gray to light gray, Select any item on screen or layer items under layer chaines"

Working hear for me.

Hope this Helps, Chip

HI Chip:

1. The red line Chain#0 shows 2 line segments and 1 arc., Should be 3 individual Chains, Really messes up the way you want to cut.

If lines are joined, they become a chain, no way out of that at the moment.

2. The second picture shows trying to move start point for one of the arc's, Turns into Circle, Will go away now when moved back.

Looks like a bug.. but moving a start point of an arc can be hard if you dont move end and center. I dont think you can do that yet. It shoudl be drawn in the right spot.

3. Loaded file always has a rapid hight, Sometimes it's 0, 1 or 60 in Max Z Chain's Tab, Even if all Tabs show 0 for Z , The View shows some Rapid Hight when loaded.

Loaded files get set to defaults, all default have a rapid, you have to manually chnge them

4. Where do you change the Drill peck distance, Only peck's first hole down to Z 0 then no peck to final depth..

There is no peck cycle in Lazycam as yet. It only drills..

Hi, Art

1. The red line Chain#0 shows 2 line segments and 1 arc., Should be 3 individual Chains, Really messes up the way you want to cut.

Art:  {If lines are joined, they become a chain, no way out of that at the moment.}

The lines arn't joined there all the same, Why not all ? Ref. the DXF

2. The second picture shows trying to move start point for one of the arc's, Turns into Circle, Will go away now when moved back.

 { Looks like a bug.. but moving a start point of an arc can be hard if you dont move end and center. I dont think you can do that yet. It shoudl be drawn in the right spot.}

Just trying to move the start point to other end of Arc., All the arc's are correct, Just pointing out the full circle if you go past end point.

3. Loaded file always has a rapid hight, Sometimes it's 0, 1 or 60 in Max Z Chain's Tab, Even if all Tabs show 0 for Z , The View shows some Rapid Hight when loaded.

  { Loaded files get set to defaults, all default have a rapid, you have to manually change them}

When you load a 2D drawing it has 0 hight, View shows hight, All Tab's Z's show 0 even Layer Tab, Until  you select a layer, Just strange some times it's 60.
OooWell'

4. Where do you change the Drill peck distance, Only peck's first hole down to Z 0 then no peck to final depth..

  {There is no peck cycle in Lazycam as yet. It only drills..}

First drill point rapids up after reaching 0, The rest just drill, Just pointing it out. OK

5. Save as Shape File isn't working hear, File Open Failed Error.

Thanks for looking, Chip

CHip thanks . That is very confusing that you can select a chain but the layer name is wrong, very confusing at best (;-) TP

Hi, Art

I simplified the drawing, the other one was way way too much to deal with, Sorry about that.

When moving Start Point/Leadens around, LCam seems to be adding a second Entity to Chain's/Lines.

This is on a line, 2 leadens, If you Delete one, It removes part of the line.

Thanks, Chip

Hi Art & Brian,

Here is my latest test using LCam ver 081. I'm still getting the weird arc thing. Also, LCam is not placing tool change code appropriate for the layer sequence in Projects. I only get one call for a drill, and one call for an end mill.

Thanks again for all the rapid progress,
Paul, Central OR

Hi Chip,

Thanks for looking at it...

I have been using CutViewerMill and CutViewerTurn to proof my G-code since I purchased the software bundle from Robert at MeshCAM a few years ago. Mach3 and the CutViewers were part of the bundle. Both versions of CutViewer have been dependable for proofing and editing G-code with my other methods of generating G-code (DeskCNC, and a few lathe code generators). So, I never got in the habit of proofing code in Mach3.

I loaded the G-code in Mach3 2.01 and found the two empty tool calls (T&H). The arcs are displayed closer to what they should be, but still not correct. If you zoom in, you will see they are not a smooth transition from entity to entity in the area I call the "foot". They are slightly larger radii than they should be. I haven't calculated the I' & J's to see what they should be... haven't wrapped my brain around that one yet... been dependent on CAM to work those out.  :-[

I'm wondering now why CutViewer and Mach3 are interpreting the code so differently? Just to check, I loaded the code in NCPlot and got the same results as CutViewer. Who's on first?

Need to get back to my eBay stuff... will look closer at the code later and see if I can figure out what's out of place.

Thanks again, Paul

Hey CHIP, I have tried and tried to change the cutting order of the layers with no luck. I can click and drag the layer BUT Lcam will not let me drop the layer to another spot. It says"Can't drop that there" no matter where I drop it at????

Also you can't edit the cut order info in the info bar.

ANy ideas.?????  (;-) TP

Paul,
Try changing the IJ arc settings in Lcam's Post options... I think that will fix the problem

Thanks

Hi Brian,

I thought I had tried that before, but tried again. It does straighten out the curves... but not in a way I'm looking for.  ;)

The bounding box is huge (271.1525 units should be 2.0625 units).

Hi Chip,

The *.dxf, *.Lcam and *.nc files are in the attached *.zip file for my July 9th post below.

Thanks guys, Paul

Hi, Paul

Your Dxf loaded in BobCad 18 shows arc's backwards, Loaded it in TurboCad 8 shows correct, Saved it as new Dxf, Re-loaded in BobCad 18, Displays correct now.

All these Dxf's have different way's thy save info, So-many versions, The New Importer was supposted to handle many more, Guess thy Missed some.

The Dxf's have a header with Info it use's O-Well.

Try the one's bellow.

Hope this Helps, Chip

Hi Chip,

I tried your Lcam, but got very odd offsetting of the outer profile. I loaded your .dxf and created the toolpaths. The "foot" of the profile is getting the oversize arc offsets shown in LCam the same as the prevoius example was showing in Mach3. The G-code generated is still giving I's & J's way out of spec.

Thanks again for jumping in on this.

Brian or Art...

Is there a preferred *.dxf for testing LCam that I could try, so I can sort out my computer/software issues if any?

My LCam xml is attached.

Hi Paul

I see what you mean, It's a LCam internal issue I think Try going back a few versions May be better.

Hears what I got with LCam ver 2.01.0

Thanks, Chip

I have a "cut" line indicated in LazyCam that should be a Rapid Height line.  I have figured out which chain it is, is there a way to change it to a Rapid Height line?

You will need to post some screen shots and the lcam file. Not sure what your doing to get that pathing.

Just a few additional comments.
There is a later version of LC and suggest you update. Note that LC is Beta and thus no longer being developed. If you plan on making signs there is software available which is better tailored to the task. Have a look at Vectric  products.
