Mach3 on USB card Windows 7 help please
« on: December 01, 2017, 05:32:07 AM »
I am sure that this has been posted many times before and I’m sure will pop up many times again.
I have one of the Chinese USB break out boards that will be ran on a Windows 7 computer. One of the questions would be, which should I go with, Mach3, or Planet CNC on getting my machine back running? Yes the computer has a parallel port and I have been running Mach3. Hard drive went down, lost some of the setting, not all, and the relay (for spindle and vacuum) on the old board went out also. So really want to try making the USB board work if at all possible. I have no paper work at all, so any help with this would be so kind.
Computer, is HP P4 3.2 Ghz, with 4 Gig of DDR2. Am using 3 limit switches at this time as Homing, table is 42.5 in. on the X, 36.75 in. on the Y and 7.5 in. for the Z. If you need any more info about my setup, ask and I can get it to you.
Really could use some help here, please.

Obviously I am biased but I would recommend Mach3 or 4.

Perhaps if you provide full details and a picture of your USB breakout board someone may be able to help.
PEACE

Tweakie,
I would rather use Mach3, I have ran it since I started carving.

That's a pirated version of a Planet CNC board, and I'm not even sure if a legal PlanetCNC license will work with it.
I've seen several people run into issues with those boards in the last year.

Unfortunately, that's not a Mach3 compatible board.
