Z Depth ??'s

Hi...Newbie (Still)...I have tried setting the Z Depth but does not event touch .....I am using a 3/16 thick piece of brass to set my "0"....
I go in to the material thickness....Set that to .1875......Nada....I am perplexed ....x and y go where they are supposed to...but not the z

You need to jog the tool down to the surface of your part, then zero the Z axis there.

I have done that as well..........I have also set the z depth in lazy cam as to how deep to cut...I Updated the software...It has to be something simple I am just missing.......

Hi,
what direction have you got your Z axis set for.

I follow the usual standard where Z=0 is the top of the material z=-1 is 1mm below the surface and Z=-10 is a humungous 10mm cut and it had better be soft
or something is going to break and Z=20 is 20mm above the material and out of harms way.

I got it, lets just say....I'm an idiot...ughhhh...Proper Depth setting....We have a Dahlgren 2516
I am so used to that...we got a CNC to take off some of the load....
Right Now I Just Need it to engrave nameplates and brass dies....one step at a time
