need help! Newbie's problems
« on: May 23, 2007, 09:55:01 AM »
In this moment I am trying to setup my home brewed engraver.
The problem is the scale factor. When I get any G-Code from
CAD prog. the MACH3 engrave it with 1/10 scale factor.
I think I know why. It's because my Microstep Drive.
How I can to setup the X,Y,Z scaling=10 in the MACH soft?

Sorry, I have very poor English.

Hi,

you need to set the 'steps per' to 10 times what they are now.

Graham.

:)I did it.Now it work!!! But...
I have "standart" 200 step 1.8 deg. stepper. My Microstep Drive
multiply it to 2000 steps, and my screw drive moved 0.1 inch
per one revolution. So I expect to get the line = 1 inch, when
I send to MACH3 (in MDI) stroke command " G0 X1".
And I get 29mm. :(.
My MACH3 setup utilise inches units.
 Thank you very much.

Are your drive definitely 10 microsteps? some drives are 8?
You say you MDI G1X1 and it moves 29mm, is this in the DRO or just you measure it as 29mm? Do you use metric normally, if so why set your machine in inches?

BTW there is a setup routine for Mach to work out your steps, you will find the button on the settings page, press it and follow the instructions. The button is just above the reset on the settings page.

My Microstep Drive 103M series provide only 10 micSteps.
I am newbie in the CNC area and Ihave not DRO.
29 mm is measured with simple caliper.

Hi, when I said DRO I was meaning the axis DRO in Mach :)
Do you usually work in mm? if so it is best to set Mach up in mm rather than inches.

I built this engraver for PCB milling for my projects, then
I need inches.
Just now discovered strange thing :
After BTW procedure I got right value in Y direction - 25mm,
but in the X direction I got only 22mm...
All settings in the motor tuning is the same for both axis.

Thank you.

That is strange, maybe try doing it again and see how it works the second time. Keep a note of the settings you have now and if it gets worse you can re enter them in the motor tuning.

It make me crazy,I check it many time and I get
in X axis 22mm instead 25,while in the Y direction
I get the right value.
It's not step skipping (I have spare of the motor power)
and all settings is a same to the both axis.
The screw drives of X and Y axis is construct from
the same screw 0.1 inch... ???
I am beginning think that my screw decrease
one revolution = 2.5mm,but why!!!
