UC 100 or new computer
« on: April 27, 2016, 10:00:07 PM »
Well, the power supply on my last computer with a LPT port blew.  Now I have to decide whether to fix it, or just go with something like the UC 100 usb/parallel port converter.  I have been using a 64 bit Win 7 machine setup next to my old XP machine to do my MeshCam and CAD stuff, and the XP machine just ran Mach 3.  I would like to just have the one machine, but not enough to spend a gazillion on a new usb breakout board.

Anyone have experience witht the UC 100?  I have looked at the SainSmart and what not, and that seems a risky deal.

Any advice is welcome.

I used my first UC100 on my mini-mill and its working perfectly, nice little unit. Easy install and replaces the lpt port directly.
Bridgeport Mill, Mach3 V062, CSMIO-IP/A controller, AC Servo Drives.
Plasma table, Mach3 V062, Step motors, C&CNC THC.

Wonderful to hear.  I am pretty much convinced to go that way and be done with the LPT port problem.

Hi there, I have two UC100 on two machines, one using a lap top and the other on a PC both using windows 7, great units no problems what so ever and very simple to install.
