LC Pro not working?
« on: April 09, 2007, 11:18:26 PM »
I Upgraded to LC Pro to get the offset function.   I have a very simple part.  Its a 2D plate with three holes in it.   When I create the offset around the perimeter, it seems to correctly create a new path around the part with what seems to be the correct offset.  However, once it finishes cutting the offset path, it then cuts the old perimeter as well.     Apparently, you must manually disable the old perimeter path first.

The above problem at least has a work around.   When I try to create an offset path to carve out the three holes, nothing is generated.   But the unrelated, disabled, original plate perimeter path re-enables and appears.   I tried the offset tab and the pocket tab, both seem to do nothing, with respect to these holes, even though the message in the lower left reads "pocketing......pocket complete".

I have version 2.00.060, apparently the latest.

Any idea what is wrong here?

Yes you need to turn off any Chains or layers that you would not like to cut. If you can see it on the screen it is going to be cut :)

If you offsetting  lest then the Rad of the circle?

thanks

The holes are 0.4", the end mill is 0.25".   I though it might be related to this, so I set the offset to 0.10" and it had no effect.

After working with it more, it appears to create a "pocket" but its a nothing pocket.   If I turn off the other paths, and click the "pocket" layer, nothing appears.

Brian,

Have you reproduced this problem?  When do you anticipate you will have a fix?

Thanks,

I could use a test file if you could spare it :)

Thanks

You need to use an offset of .125 because you are inputting the tool Rad not the dia (It is a typo and it is getting worked on) I have run it here and I got it to offset.

Thanks

Brian,

It will not work for me.
Here is what I do:
1. File --> Import file --> select the file ---> open
2.  On the Prokect Tab, click layer-2 (INSIDE1 layer)
   this highlights all three holes
3.  Click the "offsets" tab
4.  Set tool diameter to 0.1250
5.  Pull down menu set to "Inside"
6.  Clockwise toolpath is checked
7.  Press the Create offset

The red highlighted holes turn back to green and no visable path is generated.
in the Project tab window, a new layer appeared; Layer-3, Poket.   Clicking on Layer3 highlights nothing.

What am I doing wrong?
