toolpost help needed
« on: January 14, 2015, 11:36:06 AM »
hi
i am in need of some help i have just made an 8 station indexing turret for my denford orac lathe at the moment this turret is being indexed manually until i can find the spare time to convert to stepper motor drive .
today is the first time i have used this  but it is not using the correct tool offset number on a tool change , i have enclosed the program i was using when this was happening
the program uses 2 tools , when using tool T0101 it was finding the correct tool 1 offset but when it was was using the other tool T0705 it was using 07 as the tool offset , has anybody any idea's as why this is happening

Turret looks great :)

Can you zip your profiles macro folder and attach it please.
Also if you load the screenset below, on the manual page it will show you which offset is being used.

Open Mach, go to View menu then Load Screen. Browse to wherever you downloaded it to (best if you have it in Mach3 folder) Choose Turn from file type drop down and you should then see 1024Tool.lset. Choose it and it should then be loaded.

i managed to install the 1024 screen this morning but when i loaded the g code program as posted yesterday i am getting a message  "selected tool slot too large , Block = M6 T0705 "
what could be causing this message , do i need to alter some setting to allow for the toolpost

What format are your tool calls? For a lathe it should be TXXYY where X is the tool number and Y is the offset number.

I will have a look at the macros when I get home later on.

Loaded your macros (inc tool table) and called T705 and it loaded the correct tool and offset so not sure where your problem lies.
What version of Mach are you using?
Can you attach your code in case it is something in it.

i have just noticed a mistake in an earlier post on the 1024 post about the error message it should read "selected tool slot number too large , =m6  t0705 "
before i fitted the indexing tool post i was using quick change tooling & used m6 t0101 or m6 t0202 for the tool changes with the first 2 numbers are tool number & second 2 numbers are tool offsets in the tool table
for the indexing toolpost  i have been using the same format for the calling of the tool change because of me manually operating the tool changes
