Ok,
I've had this clausing lathe running for a year and a half now. It's probably made 30,000 parts. Once in a while though, it makes me scratch my head.... Really sctrach my head. Every so often when I add something into wear comp it seems like it removes it after making the part. So I have to add more the next part. This will go on part after part. Today it took almost twenty parts until it settled down. I had to add .001" on every part until I got up to .020" in comp. Then it held it. Now I don't think it is a mechanical problem as non of the other tools in the turret changed size. Just this internal threading tool. I think I had a compensation direction of 2 on the tool, although I think it should have been 6. I never use g41/g42 on this lathe, just wear comp and the dro changes based on what I put in. It works well most of the time. Anyone ever seen anything like this?
