Confused about LCAM versions
« on: March 23, 2007, 04:19:05 AM »
Ok, what's the go?  I am confused as hell about the LCAM versions.

The FTP shows 2.635 but there are other posts here that say the latest version is the one in the Mach3 download but that is only 6.00.2X or something??

The 'older' version seems to have more features (pocketing etc) but appears more buggy than the 'newer one' and lacks other features like auto optimising toolpath.

If someone could clear this up i'd be greatful.

Hi, Elnino

What you stated is mostly true, For latest ver of LazyCam D-load Mach3R2.00.060 or latest Ver above under Downloads, "Mach releases".

Optimize is working in D-load ver, LC has been split into Std., Pro ver, Pro requires a License, Downloads, "Plugins", for Pocketing, Lathe,

Offsets, ........

Hope this Helps, Chip

Sorry about all that  :( We are working very hard to get this all sorted out at this time and hope to have something that will help everyone in the very near future. (With good Rev numbers Too!)

Thank you and sorry about that

Pro requires a license for the app itself or just a Mach license?

To use the basic functions of Lcam you don't need an Lcam license. But to get the pocketing, lathe and foam you need to have an Lcam license (and the Pro version of Lcam is not included in your Mach3 license).

So by the looks of it the 'basic' version does not support G41/2 offsets and leadins is that right?  But the pro version does?

So how do i go about getting it?

G42/41 and leadins will work in the free version. you will not be able to offset the path in Lcam (With this you will not have te G42/41 trouble)

Ok, so do the leadins just not show on the screen like they did in the other versions?

They should ...

You need to double click the arrow at the start of the chain to get into the leadin settings

Hope that helps
