Kernel speed error on startup
« on: March 11, 2014, 02:30:34 PM »
I was setting my steps per inch and inadvertently missed a decimal when I saved.   I finally figured out how to get it back to functional but now I get an error on startup "one of the motors is too fast for 2500 kernel speed".  It works fine and motor is noticeably quieter.   Any ideas where to look for this setting or why the motor is so smooth now?

Look in the velocity setting of motor tuning. What do you have it set on? Accel?

Unlikely to be accel if the motor is smooth. I think it if the accel was so high that Mach is telling you it cant generate enough signals for that axis it would be stalling or you have a serious gear reduction in your drive system. In actuality I would think the same with the velocity but maybe you arent using the potential rapids the machine has saved.

Velocity 57, accel 5.  I compared to the Y and Z axis and it looks similar.

That can't be it. Those are very conservative speeds.

I'll verify when I get home.   It's possible it's 75  5 but I'm fairly sure it's one of those.  Possible I'm not looking in correct place,  motor tuning page correct?

I would think it would have to be set in the 1000's to cause an error like that.

My thoughts exactly.   Error first came up when it was set in the 1000s after I messed up the calibration.   Once I found the error and reset it, it runs perfect and noticeably quieter than the other axis.   If I wasn't getting the error on startup I'd be thinking I fixed it....   :-)

If you attach your xml I will have a look and see if I can figure out why you see this message.

Here is the XML file, I hope...
I also verified the velocity and speeds and it is 57 and 5.  In case it helps, the exact verbiage of the error is " Warning, One or more axis are tuned too fast for current kernel speed of 25000"

your Z is at 25015.
Drop it from 75 to 74 and you should be OK.
