Tried using a smoothstepper but I could not get it to work so I went back to a port.I go to set the port setting but in control panel it does not show one all it has are LPT's, also I cannot run driver test

In most instances it's 0378 but check your LPT port resources page.

I went back to the smoothstepper usb because I am running windows 7 64 bit. It seems to be working but nothing moves except the numbers on the screen, I cannot get rid of the estop, I dont even have one operating yet

If you do not have an E-Stop connected (not the best idea but.... ) you will have to change the active state of the E-Stop input in Ports and Pins, Inputs page.
However your above statement confuses me as you say the numbers are moving but you say you cant get rid of the E-Stop. If you cant get Mach out of reset then the axis should not be jogging and DROs should not be changing.

Did you change the active state of the E-Stop entry in Ports and Pins, Inputs?

I set the ports and pins to 1 and 11 and active low and now it works, but I do not have an estop hooked up yet
