Mach 3 + Gecko G540 + Saj-8000 series invereter
« on: March 12, 2013, 08:00:01 PM »
This is my first post and wish I found this forum ages ago.
I am nearing the end of my first CnC build and am having a ball.
I have all the axis going well Mach 3 screaming with code and loving it , my next task is to get my spindle talking to Mach3 via a Gecko G540 drive unit.
Nows the problem I have an SAJ8000 series inverter and cannot for the life of me fathom out the the wiring instructions.
The Gecko G540 looks straight forward but at the invereter end I cannot get the signage on the terminal blocks to make any sense.
I have attached a pic of the terminal block at the inverter end can anyone please help before I create some smoke.

Thankyou for reading.

Adrian

Looking at this manual found via Google,
www.fennecmachinery.com.au/SAJ%208000-M%20manual.pdf

Looking at the tables on page 18,19 and the diagram on page 22 , You need to connect the G540 VFD terminals as,

----------------------------------------------------
G540                                      VFD
----------------------------------------------------
Pos 9 VFD +10Vdc                    10V
Pos 8 VFD Output                     VI
Pos 7 VFD Ground                     ACM
----------------------------------------------------

Cheers,

Peter

Many thanks Peter the only thing that has been throwing me is the ACM quoted ,and the fact it has AM on the terminal block.

Hi Adrian,

Have a look at your manual and see what the definition of the AM terminal is.

Cheers,

Peter

According to the manual I found AM is an analog Monitor output an is not suitable as the Analog Common terminal.
