Control feedrate with rotary encoder switch.
« on: February 02, 2013, 07:03:27 AM »
Hi Everyone,

Ive seen these 20ppr greyscale rotary encoder switches on Ebay.
10 for about $6.
I was just thinking maybe they would make a good feedrate overide control.
Has anyone done this?
Would be great to hear if it worked well or not.

Cheers Allan.

Do you have a means of getting the values into Mach?

I was thinking maybe use mpg #2 input and then write a brain to control the feed override.
What do you think?

Cheers Allan.

Just did a little brain and it works fine. ;D

Cheers Allan.

You can do the spindle override the same way. Saves having to use a analog conversion board.

How did you write your brain to control the feedrate with this encoder switch?

Try this I just changed his example brain to control the SSO instead of the FRO.

Awesome!  I'll give it a try tomorrow! Thanks!

I don't have my encoder switches in yet, I just hooked in an MPG to test this.  With the MPG it goes from 100% down To 0% and moves from 0 - 1 % but doesn't do anything else.  It does this with the SSO and the FRO.  Do I need to have my calibration set differently and/or do I need to wait for those encoder switches to get here.  I have the calibration set to 1.000 Count and velocity to 100.00
