Cabinet space reserved for disc drive

Hey folks,
   With the OS installed, do you need the disc drive to be in the cabinet for anything in the future ?
Do you reserve space for it ?
Or, just hook one up temporarily when / if needed ?

My cabinet is getting tight.

Do you mean the CD or DVD drive? I removed mine right after installing Windows.
