A question for YALL. Would you want the wizard to create a gcode and load back to MAch3 OR would you want it to RUN the Probe code from the wizard in real time.

Ideally I'm looking for some way to probe a part to create DXF for STL file, is this possible?

The ONLY current way to do that is to use the OLD " free" Probing wizard in mach3. It is SLOW but dependable. It creates a Points File that you can use to create a STL file.

The wizard I have and working on is for 2d probing solutions.

2D probing would also be very handy

Gee wiz I hate to add to a Thread this old, BUT does anyone have a probing or Software for Mach3 done yet. No not for free, I am willing to pay for something that works.

wmgeorge,

There are probing  wizards that are available for Mach3. Been some time since I did a search of what is available
out there both for a cost and free. You will need to do a search to find something which satisfies your requirements
as they are all different but similar. None of the ones I looked were to my liking. The real question is just what does one want to do with the probed information. Here are some examples to consider:
- Just locate a reference to set the machine start point or find some feature location
- For what kind of machine ie; lathe, mill, router, etc.
- What kind of output do you want from the probing, and what additional features do you want from the wizard.
IE; point information, generate Gcode for what was probed, generate a DXF file or whatever for use in CAD,
auto update the data for later use, modfiy other Mach 3 info ie ( like the tool table)
- How will you probe ie; Laser, manual, automated, etc.
- 2D or  3D probing

There is no "universal" probing that will satisfy every desire.

Well I wanted the one that creates a point cloud, I can lay an object on the router table and probe  XY&Z. YES I have been searching and nothing comes up. That is why I asked the question on the Mach3 Forum. I have the Probe It one and it works fine, creates a nice DXF file. But I still need the 2.5 D probe capabilities.

Since the board has been down for repairs and the Search engine out for months I have not checked back in.
