Capacitors
« on: August 24, 2012, 08:01:37 AM »
On the previous cnc I had, I used a Probotix BOB and Hood suggested to install a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor between the + and – where the wiring from the limit switches were connected.

I'm doing the wiring now for my new cnc and since I use the G540, is it necessary to install these capacitors on the wiring for the limits again?

Try without, you only need to insatll caps if you have a noise issue and I cant recall anyon needing them with the G540.

I can confirm Hood is correct in that I use the G540 on my Taig Lathe and do not need any caps on my limit switches.

Interesting.  I am having noise issues with my limits.  I do not want to let the smoke out of my BOB so please explain the wiring of the cap.

Much better to have your limit wires properly shielded and grounded if you dont already but if caps are needed then usually its a 0.1uF cap that is used and it connects between the input and a gnd pin/

Agreed, just to be clear, I always use shielded cable on the home/limit switches.
