"Y" YESTERDAY - NO "Y" TODAY
« on: August 20, 2012, 01:36:19 AM »
EZROUTER PLASMA TABLE RUNNING MACH 3.

Could both motors go out at the same time, or is it something simple.  I have the machine for 2 year and now that my backlog is the biggest its ever been, I am dead in the water.  HELP.

Noticed the gantry needed cleaning so I wiped it down and oiled tracks.  Manually moved gantry forward and backward easily and slowly, and now nothing. On the Mach 3 screen it shows it should be moving but it is not.

Any ideas?

Check your wiring just in case you pulled something when you were cleaning. I suppose it could be possible to damage drives by back driving the motors manually.

All wiring has been checked and for all instances, everything seems ok. What do you mean with back drive motors? Manually moving?

Rotating the motors manually will make them produce electricity, it may  damage the drives.

Does mean I need new motors? Drives?

It could mean you need new drives but the best way to check would be swap known good ones from other axis and see if they work.

Thank you Hood. I have the slave axis going out and the Y is totally out. Got 2 coming to fix. The tech guy at EZRouter walked me through the steps to check for 2 hours and we (he) figured it out. I was the slow component in this equation.
If not for him, I would have tried what you suggested.
